Septarian (Utah) formed some 70 million years ago as the result of what we believe was a catostrophic global warming. The grey material is a hardened mud from a dried lake bed. The brown materal represents, Amonite and other lake dwelling animals (since replaced by the mineral Aragonite) which died suddenly. When they died they let off gas, as the gas escaped the chamber the golden Calcite Crystals grew in the hollows. The end result is this beautiful material Septarian.
